Simple Reminder on Adventure: Alchemical Equipments

Greetings fellow travelers and readers, my name is Elur Zuria Salazar. I am a low rank member of Golden Wing Guild, and I would like to share several stories from my adventures. I hope you can find some benefits from this sharing of knowledge and experience.
Let us start with the fact that 'adventuring' is a dangerous business. Death is always a threat. Therefore, please do not take lightly if you choose this path of life. We are responsible for our lives after all, and a dead adventurer would means a failed mission, that could also means more disasters.
Based on that simple fact, I came into conclusion that survival is very important in adventures. The claws of monsters, the deadly sword strikes, they are indeed dangerous. However, for this chance of sharing, I would like to share some experience on other threats instead.
These other threats are poison, disease, and special toughness of monsters.
Poisons
My first sharing would be about poisons, because it is very common and sometimes they are very lethal. From the tiny bite of the snake at the backyard, to the giant skeleton larger than a horse. These poisons sometimes enter our body through injury, but of course there are other type of poisons.
The poisons will affect our body depending our immune system and general health, and most poisons will reduce our general health and body capabilities. Some will attack our immune system as well, and it would be very fatal if that happen.
Now, there are many equipments (or magic) that can help us in reducing the threat of poisons, however I would share two items that can be obtained quite easily in Helionster.
The first one is Antitoxin, usually costs around 50gp per dose. If you drink one dose, then it will prevent any poison to spread in your body for around 1 hour. So you can drink the Antitoxin by the time you see giant insects or snakes or spiders before you fight them, to minimize the risk of poisoning.
Another useful item is to help your friend, in case they got poisoned. A skilled medic might not need them, but it would ease the work too. It also has many uses, as it will improve general body immunities against poisons, disease. It also improves patient's health recovery speed. The name of the compound is Bodybalm, and it is usually priced around 25gp per dose.
Diseases
Diseases, similar to poison, usually depend on our immune system too. However, the cause of disease are quite numerous, and there are also many magical diseases that are spread by supernatural beings. Unlike poisons that have immediate effect, diseases tend to show their symptoms a bit late, but with a prolonged threats as well.
Luckily, there is also an alchemical products called Antiplague costs around 50gp each dose. You can imbibe Antiplague when you know you are facing a very dangerous plague-spreading monsters, or if you already contracted a disease. It will help your immune system in fighting the disease.
Furthermore, application of Bodybalm would also help a diseased patient.
Special Toughness
During my adventures, I have met several supernatural monsters that have supernatural toughness; they are resistant to many weapons, and only some special materials can bypass these resistance. From my experience, a highly enhanced magical weapon would ignore these resistance, however for a lower rank adventurer like myself, such expensive equipments are beyond reach.
Let me start my explanation by stating several types of special resistance. First, based on the weapon type. As we know, some weapons use sharp edges, other use massive mass, and there are also those that rely on puncturing through defenses. Now, I have met several monsters that have a very solid carapace and armor, that made any blades to glance; only massive crushing force can deal damages to them. Meanwhile, I also encountered several zombies that are very resistance to bludgeoning and punctures, however we can easily slash their rotten flesh. Regarding these kinds of special defenses, my only suggestion is, prepare several weapons ready. A good backup weapon is our body (for those who are trained in martial arts) and a good dagger. However, for those who are not trained in martial arts, a simple hammer or any stick will do.
Second type of special resistance can be bypassed using a special material. There are special materials that are known to be the bane to many monsters: Silver (for lycanthropes and devils, and I think vampires too), Cold Iron (for demons, and I think many feys as well), and Adamantine (many constructs and golems). For many adventurers, especially good fighters, there is a tendency to really love only a weapon or two. And it would be very troublesome to order a special weapon made from special material, just for 'just in case'.
Especially since they tend to be very expensive.
There is an alternative however: Weapon Blanch (price varies). You can cover your weapon (or better: ammunitions - yay for archers and crossbow users!) with them, and it will make a layer of such material. However, I personally advise you to avoid Cold Iron, since usually it is cheaper to buy the 'special' version somehow.
Ghostly Enemies
Before I conclude this article, I would like to make a honorary mention on Ghost Salt Weapon Blanch. For adventurers, there will be time when we will encounter a ghostly, incorporeal enemies. Some are naturally incorporeal, some uses magic, I do not know the detail, I only know the threat. These kind of monsters are immune to our weapons, as they will bypass through their body. A magical weapon, however, would somehow deal damage to them, albeit not as effective as usual (or so I heard).
Dangerous, but fortunately, there is a special alchemical substance that can be used, which is the mentioned earlier Ghost Salt Weapon Blanch. It is quite expensive, around 200gp per dose. Each dose can cover only one melee weapon, so it would still be very expensive. However, it can cover 10 ammunitions (arrows, bolts, and the likes), so it is a cheaper alternatives than magical weapons. It is always good to have a sling with several stones as backup weapons, right?
Conclusions
This short article is written with the purpose of knowledge sharing, in order to improve survival chance of fellow adventurers. There are other things that I would like to share as well, but I think I will save it for another chance.
